Modulo takes shape on MorphOS

Modulo, a native 3D solid modeler by Papiosaur has just been launched. It is built on the OpenCASCADE (OCCT) geometry kernel.

Modulo creates primitives (box, sphere, cylinder, cone, torus, wedge) with editable dimensions, combines them with boolean operations (fuse, cut, common) and reworks them (fillet, chamfer, shell, linear/circular arrays, move, rotate, scale, mirror). It measures exact volume, surface area and center of mass. On the file side: a native BREP format (exact geometry), STEP (AP214) import and export for CAD interchange, STL/OBJ export, STL/OBJ import and drag & drop of .brep/.step/.stl/.obj files.

The 3D viewport runs in hardware-accelerated through TinyGL, with orthographic or perspective projection, shaded, wireframe and technical-line (HLR) modes, a ground grid and X/Y/Z world axes. Modulo is donationware: the demo lets you try every feature, only the file outputs (BREP save, STEP/STL/OBJ export) are reserved for registered users (See Readme file).

RadioNet comes in loud and clear

RadioNet (version 0.4), the native internet radio player by Papiosaur, is now available on MorphOS Storage.

RadioNet draws on the community RadioBrowser directory (World Top and 26+ countries) and plays streams internally through Reggae (MP3, OGG, AAC). It offers a two-column station list, a « Now Playing » panel (logo, format, bitrate, country, language, genres, website link) and drag-and-drop favourites.

nextvi, the bidirectional vi hits 6.1

The text editor nextvi has just been updated to version 6.1 on MorphOS Storage, ported to MorphOS by Stefan Haubenthal.

nextvi, after the work of Ali Gholami Rudi and Kyryl Melekhin, is a fast, minimalist editor from the vi/ex family, built for bidirectional UTF-8 text editing (right-to-left languages such as Arabic, Persian or Hebrew) right in the terminal.

The package ships with the patch2vi utility, which converts a unified diff into a nextvi editing script (using ex commands), with several matching strategies to re-apply your customisations.

ImagePrint updated to 1.2

ImagePrint (version 1.2), a utility by Bernd Assenmacher to print your images through the native MorphOS Print-System, is now available on MorphOS Storage.

ImagePrint sends your images straight to the MorphOS Print-System and supports the JPG/JPEG, ILBM/IFF, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF formats. The program is donationware, with no usage restrictions.

This 1.2 release adds credits, a new icon and improved graphics.

CellBasics: a native spreadsheet for MorphOS

Jacek Piszczek releases CellBasics to the public, a native spreadsheet for MorphOS, as a free download.

Built for MorphOS, it handles everything from a quick table of numbers to a fully formatted worksheet driven by Excel-compatible formulas. It imports CSV and XLSX, exports to CSV, uses its own .cbx format, offers rich cell formatting (fonts, colours, borders, merged cells) and can be scripted through its ARexx port.

Medusa 0.1: native YouTube music content on MorphOS

Medusa, by Digitally, is a native MorphOS application that lets you search, browse and listen to YouTube music content directly from your MorphOS desktop. Developed in C/MUI, it combines the power of the official YouTube Data v3 API with a native MorphOS interface.

Highlights : fast YouTube search via the official API (2 to 4 seconds), results shown with title, channel and duration, thumbnail preview, statistics (views, likes, comments, publication date), scrolling description, audio/video playback via Mplayer/ffplay (FFmpeg/Mplayer by BeWorld), search filters (Any, Live Set, Mix, Official, Concert…) and configurable preferences.

Medusa relies on external players such as MPlayer or FFplay for playback, and you will need to obtain your own YouTube API key to run searches.

ACM 1.15: the all-in-one audio converter gets an update

J.C. Herran Martin releases ACM 1.15, a new version of his audio conversion tool built with Hollywood 11.

ACM reads a long list of input formats (mod, xm, s3m, mp3, ogg, flac, wav, sid, m4a…) and exports to WAV, MP3, 8SVX or OGG, with adjustable quality for the compressed formats. Its interface is available in eight languages, including French.

This release adds the ESC key to abort a conversion in progress, along with new backgrounds and artwork. Requires charsets.library.

AmiArcadia 36.51: the Signetics console emulator gets updated

Back to the 1970s-80s: Stefan Haubenthal updates his MorphOS port of AmiArcadia 36.51, the Signetics-based machines emulator by James Jacobs.

It brings back the Emerson Arcadia 2001, the Interton VC 4000 and various coin-ops of the era, with a ReAction interface, save states, windowed/fullscreen modes, gameplay recording, network play and support for many input devices (joystick, paddle, trackball…).

This release fixes a transparent-demultiplexing crash, optimises memory usage and improves slider responsiveness as well as the text output window.

less 704: the file paginator gets updated

Stefan Haubenthal updates his MorphOS port of less 704, Mark Nudelman's well-known file paginator, a more flexible cousin of the more and pg commands.

This command-line staple lets you comfortably browse a text file, both forwards and backwards. This release relies on POSIX regular expressions and bundles the lessecho and lesskey utilities.

A beta build, which requires termcap.library.

AmigaGPT 3.0.0: AI shifts up a gear on MorphOS

Cameron 'Nightfox' Armstrong reaches a milestone with AmigaGPT 3.0.0, a major overhaul of his ChatGPT chat application.

Beyond text and image generation and text-to-speech, this version introduces profile management, a background daemon (AmigaGPTD) and, above all, a Shell Tool that lets the AI run AmigaDOS commands, subject to user approval.

The icing on the cake: support for alternative chat servers (Google Gemini, Claude, xAI Grok, LM Studio) and ARexx scripting. On MorphOS it needs MUI (5 recommended), guigfx.library, the usual MCCs and an active OpenAI API key.
